Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has extended the anti-dumping duty (AD) on H-shaped steel products from Malaysia imposed since April 2021. MoIT had imposed a 10.2pc AD on H-shaped steel imported from Malaysia.
The anti-dumping investigation on H-shaped products started in August 2020. The tax rate could evaluate and adjusted under legal regulations.
Malaysia had not produced and exported H-shaped steel to Vietnam before 2017. Imported volume from Malaysia has risen sharply post the imposition of 22pc AD on imports from China. MoIT determined imports from Malaysia cause damage to the domestic steel market.
Malaysia’s exports of similar products to Vietnam increased to over VND 213bn in 2019 and VND 848bn in 2020.
