Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The Volkswagen Group’s (VW’s) sales increased by 27.9pc in H1 2021, to 4.9 million units from 3.8 million in the same period of 2020, the German manufacturer indicated on Friday.

 

The company’s total sales increased by  34.9pc in Q2 2021 to 2.5 million cars against 1.8 million units in the same quarter last year, when the world was reeling under lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Volkswagen maintained its upward sales trend in June as well, registering a 6.5pc improvement in sales at 856,300units compared to 804,100 units in June 2020.

 

In terms of its brands, MAN recorded the highest growth in the first half of the year with sales of the truck brand increasing by 63.3pc to 77,200 units from 47,300 units sold in H1 2020. The Lamborghini brand increased sales by 37pc to 4,852 cars in the same period, the European carmaker noted.
