Three West Coast recyclers, SA Recycling, American Iron and Metal (AIM), and Alpert & Alpert have announced acquisitions of new scrapyards over the past week for undisclosed amounts.
SA Recycling acquired Star Scrap based in Montebello, California near Los Angeles to expand its scrap sourcing. The location processes all commodities of ferrous and non-ferrous including high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, radiators, and motors. Star Scrap has the capacity to process about 100,000mt of ferrous scrap annually.
American Iron and Metal (AIM) also recently acquired the Liberty Metal scrap yard in Las Vegas, Nevada. AIM, which also operates as Ecology in California, exports and sells its material to US domestic mills.
Alpert & Alpert acquired Wilson Metal Exchange (WME) in San Fernando, California. The company provides recycling services in the Los Angeles area and specializes in ferrous, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys. WME established a processing facility in 2016 in Spring Valley, California to service San Diego and Mexico.
