China’s Zenith Iron and Steel will improve their facility by constructing two blast furnaces of 2,300cu mt and 2,400cu mt in Haimen port new district, Nantong city.
As per the company’s statement, it is working to replace current capacity with these furnaces and three newly built 190-tonne converters. The additions will have iron-smelting capacity of 6.06mt and steel-making capacity of 5.85mt.
Currently, Xuzhou Liguo Iron and Steel has a 7.62mn mt capacity; Zhongtian Iron and Steel Group North District, Changzhou Linhong Special Steel and Xuzhou Liguo Steel together have a capacity of 7.73mn mt. This replacement is part of the Zhongtian (Nantong) boutique steel project which aims at high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, with a focus on environmental impact.
