Spanish steel mill Acerinox is in the process of applying a new system to enable real time market behaviour help plan for demand and improve its supply chain.
The solution designed by Oracle aims to help the company reduce its stock and yet guarantee supply. The system will have statistical algorithms to indicate individual customer needs, to help Acerinox plan for the demand of every product for each customer and channel.
As part of its strategy to strengthen its supply chain, the steelmaker is developing another project along with Minsait to manage supply chain in each region.
Acerinox has indicated that since its conception, the company has been focused on cost saving, reducing inventory levels, and improving customer service. The company’s five year objective is to make significant improvements to its supply chain processes.
Bernardo Velazquez, chief executive officer of Acerinox said that the Spanish steel mill faced a competitive environment in which efficiency in cost and operations was critical. The current supply chain solutions are a significant step in this direction.
