European steelmaker Aperam’s total steel shipments in 2020 declined by 6.1pc to 1.6mn t (1.5mn mt) from 1.78mn t in 2019. 

 

In the fourth quarter of 2020, the company’s steel shipments rose to 431,000 t from 402,000 t in Q4 2019 but fell from 432,000 t in Q3 2020. 

 

The company’s sales last year fell to €3.6bn ($4.36bn) from €4.2bn in 2019 and dropped to €916mn in Q4 2020 from €1bn in the same previous-year quarter. However. sales rose from €841mn in Q3 2020. 

 

The steelmaker’s operating income fell to €199mn in 2020 from €207mn in 2019 but increased to €118mn in Q4 2020 from €59mn in Q4 2019 and from €33mn in Q3 2020. 

 

Aperam’s adjusted EBITDA dropped to €293mn in 2020 from €340mn in 2019. Its adjusted EBITDA in the fourth quarter rose to €109mn from €85mn during the same period in 2019 and from €65mn in Q3 2020.
