Ukrainian integrated steel mill ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih decreased the output of its main products in January-September 2020.

According to the company’s official statement on Nov 5, during the first nine months of this year, the steelmaker’s pig iron production fell to 3.6mn mt from 4.1mn mt in the prior-year period. Crude steel output totaled 3.5mn mt during the period under review down from 4.1mn mt in 2019, while finished steel production declined to 3.2mn mt from 3.6mn mt during the same period under comparison.

In Q3 2020, the company’s crude steel production dropped by 94,000mt to 1.06mn mt, from the prior quarter due to repairs at blast furnace No. 9, which was successfully completed to increase the furnace’s reliability.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih prepared blast furnace No. 7 for capital repair and began the reconstruction of a sinter machine in sinter shop No. 2 during the quarter.
