Argentina’s construction activity index (Isac) increased by 53.3pc from January-July 2021, according to the country’s National Statistics Institute (Indec). Apparent consumption of round iron and steel inputs for construction increased 58.6pc, and steel tubes and pipes rose 38pc.

The data released on Sep 7 also records a 19.8pc rise in the index this July against the same month last year. Round iron and steel inputs were up 22.1pc for the same period, and apparent consumption of steel tubes and pipes rose 43.6pc.

While Indec had previously registered a rise in Argentine steel output, it attributed to an 85pc growth in authorized building permits between January and June 2021 and a 64.9pc increase compared to the same year-ago period.
