German automaker BMW Group reported total sales of 686,069 units in the last quarter of 2020, up 3.2pc from the same period in 2019. The company noted that its electric vehicle (EV) sales increased by 55pc in Q4 2020 to 76,246 units compared with the same period last year.
In the full year of 2020, BMW, along with its sub-brands Mini and Rolls Royce, sold 2.32 million cars, falling short by 8.4pc over 2019. During this period, the largest growth in sales volumes was seen in South Korea, up by 30.5pc and China, up 7pc. Sales in the US, however, declined by 18pc in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 related shutdowns.
The Group also delivered 169,272 motorcycles in the past year, which, it indicated, was the second-highest volume in the brand’s history. In 2020, BMW’s EV sales increased by 32pc from 2019 to 192,646 units.
