Brazilian steel producers could increase prices in January 2020 due to a weak local currency and elevated international prices.
Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) will hike prices 10pc next month, a company spokesperson told Davis Index. A Gerdau spokesperson also said that it is increasing its flat steel prices by 7-9pc effective January 1.
Usiminas is also raising the price of its steel by 5pc in January 2020, according to media reports.
Brazil’s crude steel production declined 19.4pc to 2.6mn t (2.4mn mt) in October 2019, according to figures from the World Steel Association.
