Brazilian shipment values of iron ore, copper and nickel rose in December on an annual basis due to higher overseas demand, according to the country’s Economy Ministry.
Brazil’s iron ore and concentrates exports rose by 87.3pc to $2.4bn in December this year, from 1.4bn in the same month last year while copper exports were worth $305.6mn, almost double over $186mn a year ago.
Shipments of nickel ores and concentrates also rose by 63.4pc in December with aluminum ores and concentrate exports down 47.6pc, the Ministry said without disclosing actual figures.
Brazil’s crude steel production rose by 11.2pc to 2.9mn mt in November this year, from 2.6mn mt produced the same month the prior year, according to the latest figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
