UK-based Central Asia Metals Ltd. (CAML) announced a rise in lead and zinc output from its Sasa mine in Makedonska Kamenica, North Macedonia, while copper concentrate production dipped at its Kounrad mine in Kazakhstan. 

 

Nigel Robinson, CAML’s chief executive officer, said in a press release on July 9 that the site teams made significant changes to maintain safe operations during the pandemic. He added that the company remains on course to achieve its annual production guidance across all three base metals. 

 

In Q2 2020, CAML produced 7,533mt of lead concentrates, and 6,076mt of zinc concentrate from its operations at Sasi. Lead output rose 5.4pc from 7,145mt while zinc production increased by 3.4pc from 5,878mt during the same period last year. 

 

Copper concentrate production at Kounrad decreased by 16.4pc to 3,406mt in Q2 2020 from 3,642mt in the same quarter in 2019.

 

For the half-year ended June 30, copper production remained almost flat at 6,607mt while lead and zinc outputs rose 5.4pc and 6pc to 15,140mt and 12,203mt, respectively, compared to H1 2019.
