Canada has levied provisional antidumping duty (AD) on concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) that is exported from Russia and Oman.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) indicated in a notification on Jun 17 that the AD was imposed after an investigation for the period June 1, 2020, to November 30, 2020, based on complaints filed by the domestic steel industry as well as importers of the material.

CBSA has imposed AD of 8pc on rebar exported from Oman and 45pc on Russian exports of the material. Following the CBSA’s notification, Canada International Trade Tribunal (CITT) will issue its decision on Jul 2. Until then these duties will be deemed as provisional duties. CBSA will impose the final or revised duties based on CITT’s ruling on the matter.
