Canada sold 159,098 new vehicles in October, down 2.5pc from 163,136 units sold in the same month last year, according to Statistics Canada (StatCan).
In January-October, total sales accounted for 1.31mn units, down 29.6pc from 1.7mn units in the prior year period. Sales of trucks contributed 1.04mn units in the first ten months of 2020, declining 22pc over 1.27mn trucks sold in the same period last year.
In October, passenger car sales accounted for 28,530 units, down 30pc from 37,370 units sold in October 2019. However, trucks sales offset this decline, rising 3.8pc to 130,568 units, compared with 125,766 units in the same period under comparison.
