Central Asia Metals produced 3,201mt of copper, 6,127mt of zinc and 7,607mt of lead in the Jan – March quarter (Q1 2020). Production for all the metals rose in the quarter compared to the prior-year quarter.
According to the press release, the company’s 2020 production guidance for copper is set between 12,500 – 13,500mt, zinc between 23,000 – 25,000mt while lead is set between 30,000 – 32,000mt.
In the March ending quarter, copper production rose by 8pc to 3,201mt from 2,952mt in the year prior. Zinc production was up by 9pc to 6,127mt from 5,639mt produced in the previous year. Lead production rose by 5pc to 7,607mt from 7,212mt produced the year prior.

The company posted a growth in production of all base metals as they faced no production disruptions or challenges in sales during Q1. Despite the COVID-outbreak, the company has retained its 2020 production guidance. Central Asia Metals states it has adopted a cautious approach for the next quarter as virus cases in both Kazakhstan and North Macedonia are increasing and government restrictions are escalating.
