Chile’s copper production increased by 8.4pc in February to 451,580mt compared the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the National Statistical Institute (INE).

 

The country’s copper output is expected to increase by 1.5pc to 5.87mn mt this year compared to calendar 2019. Production for 2021 is also expected to rise by 0.7pc over this year to 5.91mn mt, according to figures from the Chilean Copper Commission.

 

Overall, Chilean mining production increased by 9.9pc in February 2020 compared to last year, due to higher demand for metallic mining and copper production, INE said.

 

Manufacturing production in the country also increased by 3.7pc in February compared to the same month of 2019. Chilean industrial output also rose by 5.6pc during the month.
