The US Department of Commerce (Commerce) levied antidumping and countervailing duties against China for pressure steel cylinders and hot rolled carbon steel flat products.
According to the department’s preliminary findings, pressure steel cylinders received countervailable subsidies between Jan 1, 2017 and Dec 31, 2017. Commerce also determined certain hot-rolled carbon steel flat products with Chinese provenance are subject to antidumping duties for having entered the US between November 1, 2017 and October 31, 2018. China-wide entities are determined to have exported products into the US in contravention of trade laws.
Beijing Tianhai Industry Co., Ltd. (BTIC) was assessed to contravened trade laws and Commerce will issue assessment instructions to US Customers and Border Protection (CBP) 15 days after the final results are published, including liquidating BTIC’s pressure steel cylinder shipments or withdrawing them from warehouses.Commerce will also instruct CBP to collect cash deposits from BTIC, however, at this time the amount has yet to be determined.
Commerce will levy 90.83pc antidumping tariffs on China-wide entities exporting hot rolled carbon steel flat products to the US per its preliminary findings. Additionally, it will instruct CBP to liquidate Chinese exports containing hot-rolled carbon steel flat products. A cash deposit has yet to be finalized by the department.
