China’s vehicle production increased by 53.4pc to 8.6 million units in Jan-Apr 2021 compared to the same period a year ago, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
Passenger car production grew by 55.3pc to 6.7 million vehicles while commercial vehicles’ output rose by 47pc to 1.9 million units in January-April 2021 against the same year-ago period.
Car production increased by 6.3pc to 2.2 million vehicles in April 2021 against the same year-ago month but declined by 9.3pc compared to the preceding month.
Sales of automobiles in China rose by 54.8pc to 8.7 million units in the first four months of 2021 compared to January-April 2020. Passenger car sales climbed by 53.1pc to 6.8 million vehicles and commercial vehicle sales rose by 47.3pc to 2 million units in the same timeframe under comparison.
Vehicle sales increased by 8.6pc to 2.2 million units in April 2021 compared to the same year-ago month but decreased by 10.8pc against the preceding month.
Sales of new energy vehicles leaped 2.5 times to 732,000 units in January-April 2021 compared to the same year-ago period. In April, new energy vehicle sales dropped by 8.7p to 206,000 units compared to March.
