China’s key companies produced 18.35mn mt of crude steel with a daily output of 1.83mn mt in mid-February. The daily output dropped by 5.77pc from a year ago, while the output was down 5.39pc from mid-January, according to the China Iron and Steel Association.

 

From the beginning of the year ( year-to-date 2020) China produced 25.51mn mt of crude steel with a daily output of 2.50mn mt, down by 0.08pc from a year ago and down by 4.23pc from a month ago. Production of pig iron was 21.40mn mt with daily output of 2.40mn mt, down by 3.72pc from a year ago and down by 3.40pc from the previous month. China produced 29.10mn mt of steel with daily output of 2.99mn mt, up by 0.56pc from last year same period and down by 3.30pc from the previous month.

 

In mid-February, steel stocks at Chinese steel mills were 21.41mt, up by 15.27pc from the prior week and up by 123.88pc from the beginning of this year.
