China’s average daily crude steel production in late-September rose to 2.188mn mt, up by 21.6pc from the prior-year period and up by 2pc from mid-September, according to China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) data. Daily steel products’ output increased to 2.215mn mt, up by 14.3pc from the prior year, and up 8.3pc from mid-September. Pig iron production was at 1.901mn mt, up 17.9pc from the prior year.

Key steelmakers’ average daily production in Sep was 2.157mn mt of crude steel, 1.891mn mt of pig iron and 2.089mn mt of steel products in late-September period, as per CISA which compiles production data from around 90 statistically significant steel producers across China. In September, China’s total crude steel production by key producers stood at 64.73mn mt, pig iron 56.75mn mt and steel products 62.68mn mt. 

 

Steel inventories at key producers in late-September stood at 11.596mn mt, down by 13.49pc or 1.808mn mt from mid-September and down by 6.25pc or 773,400mt from late-August. Inventories are up 21.65pc or 2.067mn mt from the start of the year.
