China-based Weilai automobiles (NIO) commenced production of a new smart electric SUV model EC6NIO at a new plant in Hefei city of Anhui province. The annual production capacity of this plant will be 100,000 units. For the project, the Hefei Municipal Government will invest CNY10bn.
Weilai recently shifted its headquarters to Hefei city from Shanghai. The premises include a production base, research and development facility and sales office. The project entails a total investment of CNY102bn. The automaker expects production value of cars from the facility to reach CNY100bn in the next five years.
