Indonesia-based Dexin Steel completed hot test of steelmaking and continuous casting (CC) project at Morowali park plant. The project has designed annual capacity to produce 1.5mn mt bar and wire. The company successfully hot tested the No. 2 converter of the plant on Dec 23.
This project is located in the Morowali Industrial Park in East Sulawesi. The steel plant consists of CC unit and bar and wire bidding sections, including a 2×120mt converters. The plant will have an annual output of 500,000mt high-speed wire rod and 1mn mt of bars for use in engineering construction. The company aims to cater to high-quality steel bars demand for infrastructure projects in Indonesia and Southeast Asian markets.
Dexin Steel Indonesia is triparty JV between the Sulawesi-based PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park, Chinese steelmaker Delong Holdings and Shanghai Dingxin Investment of Tsingshan Holding Group. Japan’s steel trading Hanwa’s also hold 10pc stake in the company.
