Dubai Cables (Ducab), the United Arab Emirates-based aluminum and copper cables manufacturer, has spun off its metals operations into a new subsidiary called Ducab Metals Business (DMB).
The nascent company will export around 75pc of locally manufactured copper and aluminum rods to the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the US, according to media reports. DMB will manufacture these materials in Ducab’s existing copper rod and aluminum facilities in Abu Dhabi.
The facilities have the capacity to produce 175,000mt of copper rods and 50,000mt of aluminum rods per annum.
The new business reflects Ducab’s strategy to both grow its metals business and increase its customer base for this material, according to Ducab’s chairman Dr Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh. Additionally, creating a separate subsidiary for its rods business will help Ducab focus on manufacturing cables.
Ducab is a joint venture between the Dubai and Abu Dhabi governments.
