Canadian electric vehicle (EV) maker ElectraMeccanica indicated that it will begin production of its flagship Solo model on August 26.
The company works with a contract manufacturer named Zongshen in Chongqing, China. It will commence production of its three-wheeled EV in the Asian country. Meanwhile, the vehicles’ delivery will begin in three primary US markets – California, Arizona, and Oregon.
The company plans to expand its distribution along the West Coast of the US. ElectraMeccanica is currently taking orders via its website, it said in an announcement. The automakers noted that it already has an order backlog, without disclosing any actual production or sales volumes.
The Solo is an 80 mph model, with a range of over 100 miles on a single battery charge.
