Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The European Union (EU) imposed anti-dumping duties (ADD) on imports of steel road wheels from China for the next 5 years. The duty aims to protect the EU’s metal industry from the material injury caused by low-priced imports and ensure a level playing field for European steel road wheels manufacturers.

The European Commission has imposed 50.3pc duty on China’s Xingmin Intelligent Transportation Systems; Tangshan Xingmin Wheels; Xianning Xingmin Wheels and 66.4pc for other China-based companies. The import duty is imposed on wheels of steel designed for use on the road and designed for road tractors, motor vehicles, special purpose motor vehicles and trailers or semi-trailers, irrespective of whether fitted with tyres or not.

European wheel producers initiated the investigation through the Association of European Wheels Manufacturers (EUWA). The probe revealed that 2mn mt pieces were dumped into the European Union.
