Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) in May recorded their highest ever monthly sales. Steel sales by JSPL’s Indian plant in the month stood at 640,000mt, up by 28pc from 500,000mt in the prior-year period, according to a company statement. Of this, the company’s exports from Indian plant amounted to 401,000mt or 62.65pc of the total.
The company’s consolidates sales (India and Oman plants) rose by 26pc to 797,000mt in May from the prior-year period. Its consolidated steel production and pellet production were at 620,000mt and 647,000mt, respectively.
The company is exporting its products like rail blooms and plates to France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and UAE.
It is receiving orders for round billets from European and Middle Eastern countries for manufacture seamless pipes. All primary steel mills including JSPL, have been active in overseas markets for the past couple of months.
The company is expected to produce 8.7-9.3mn mt of crude steel from India and Oman plants in the financial year 2020-21 from 8.17mn mt produced in the previous year. In India, it has manufacturing facilities at Raigarh (Chhattisgarh) and Angul (Odisha). JSPL’s also has an integrated steel complex at Sohar, Oman with 2mn mt capacity.
