Ford is prepared to restart vehicle and engine production operations at its main manufacturing sites in Europe in a phased manner from May 4
The company will restart operations at Saarlouis Vehicle Assembly Operations, Cologne Assembly Operations and Engine Plant in Germany, Valencia Vehicle Assembly Operations in Spain and Craiova Vehicle Assembly Operations and Engine Plant in Romania. The Romanian plant will resume operations on May 18, while the UK plant’s resumption date is yet to be decided, according to the company’s latest release.
Production will begin at low levels and will gradually ramp up over the next few months. The production plans will be in-line with supplier readiness, logistics restrictions, dealer sales sites reopening in key market areas and customer demand.
The company will comply with safety measures to mitigate the risk of contracting COVID-19. Ford manufactured its own face mask to protect employees across Europe.
