Germany’s crude steel output rose by 9pc to 13.5mn t (12.2mn mt) in the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2020, according to German Steel Federation (WV Stahl).
In April alone, the country’s crude steel output grew by 30pc to 3.4mn t compared to April 2020.
Its oxygen steel production increased by 9.2pc to 9.2mn t in the first four months of the year compared to the same period last year and its output in April rose by 31.9pc to 2.2mn t compared to April 2020.
Production of electrical steel in the four-month period rose by 8.6pc to 4.2mn t annually while its output in April alone saw a 30.6pc increase to 1mn t compared to April last year, WV Stahl reported.
The country’s production of pig iron in the first four months of the year grew by 8.2pc to 8.5mn t from the same period in 2020 while it was up by 27.1pc to 2mn t in April this year on an annual basis.
Germany’s hot-rolled steel production grew by 11.3pc to 12.1mn t in the first four months of 2021 compared to the same period last year and its output was up by 35pc to 2.9mn t in April 2021 compared to the same month in the previous year, WV Stahl reported.
