Germany’s index of import prices dropped by 3.9pc in October compared to October 2019, but increased by 0.3pc from the previous month, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
The country’s export prices index declined by 1pc in October from October last year, while rose by 0.1pc from the preceding month, Destatis reported.
The decline in the import price index was less steep than in September and August, when the drop was 4.3pc and 4pc, respectively, from respective prior-year periods. While the year-on-year change in export price indexes in September and August this year was 1.1pc each.
