Guangdong Yongjin Metal Technology’s new stainless steel plant with an annual output of 680,000mt will be partially operational by the middle of March, Guangdong Stainless Steel and Products Association, said on Thursday.
Because of the Covid-19 situation in China, only one unit of the plant – producing wide precision stainless steel strips – will go into production.
The Guangdong Yongjin plant is in the Yangjiang city, Guangdong province, south China and was constructed in two phases.
Production capacity of phase 1 is forecast at 280,000mt per year. Installation of equipment at the plant was completed in Jan 2020.
Construction of the second phase is estimated to start in second half of this year. Production capacity for the second phase is targeted at 400,000mt annually.
Guangdong Yongjin Metal Technology is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Metal Technology, whose annual output of cold rolled stainless steel is 250,000mt; and of cold rolled stainless steel strips is 500,000mt.
