US-based Hecla Mining increased its zinc reserves by 8pc and lead reserves by 5pc across its operations in 2019 from the prior year. Hecla’s biggest reserve at Greens Creek mine, Alaska increased in 2019. Zinc reserves rose 10pc to 778,410mt and lead reserves increased by 16pc to 305,190mt. The mine produces a total of 62,836mt of zinc and 24,704mt of lead in 2019.
Lucky Friday mine in Idaho processed 57,091mt at the mill and reported its second highest lead and zinc production with 4,487mt lead and 2,426mt zinc in 2019. Proven and probable reserves are currently 505,740mt of lead and 223,520mt of zinc and are essentially unchanged from 2018.
