Indian shipbreaking prices rose on Tuesday amid healthy demand from the re-rollers in Gujarat. The daily Davis Index for 8Ani rose by Rs550/mt ($7.452/mt) to Rs30,850/mt ($418.04/mt) ex-Alang. Trades were reported at the index price.
The daily Davis Indexes for 10Ani and 14Ani rose by Rs400/mt each to Rs31,250/mt and Rs31,850/mt ex-Alang, respectively.
Among other rolling scrap grades, the daily Davis Index for 2kg plates rose by Rs450/mt to Rs29,600/mt ex-Alang with transactions reported at index price.
The daily Davis Index for HMS attachments and Melting rose by Rs400/mt each to Rs29,100/mt and Rs28,200/mt, respectively. A vessel, Reefer ‘Marina Bay’, with tonnage 7,932/ldt beached at Alang on December 3. In addition, a steel tug vessel, named ‘Tug Jumeira’ with tonnage 666/ldt is yet to be beached at Alang.
