The weekly Davis Index for domestic Taint/Tabor (old sheet) on Monday settled at Rs98,550/mt, up from Rs3,500 ($47.15/mt) del Mumbai consumer as demand from alloy manufacturers in Mumbai rose.
The index for domestic old sheet fell by Rs500/mt to settle at Rs98,000/mt del Delhi consumer, following the drop in imported Taint/Tabor scrap prices to $1,035/mt cfr India on Friday, down by $23/mt.
In Delhi market, demand was subdued as market players are adopting a wait-and- watch approach before booking scrap orders since the spread of COVID-19 has impacted businesses.
The weekly index for domestic old cast (Purja/Tense) settled flat for a second successive week at Rs85,000/mt del Delhi consumer. Prices of domestic old cast did not follow the drop in imported aluminium old cast, which fell by $10/mt to $1,033/mt cfr India on Friday.
The index for Indian old cast dropped by Rs1,250/mt to settle at Rs83,750/mt del Mumbai.
The weekly index for aluminium EC wire was also flat at Rs130,000 del Delhi consumer, also on weak demand.
The index for aluminium utensils fell by 1,500/mt to settle at Rs103,500/mt del Mumbai consumer and the index for aluminium utensils settled flat at Rs106,000/mt del Delhi consumer.
Trading thinned due to the government imposed restrictions on travels which has affected manufacturing activities.
