India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has levied provisional countervailing duty (CVD) on imports of certain steel products from Indonesia, according to media reports

A probe was initiated by the authorities after the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA), Jindal Stainless Ltd, Jindal Stainless (Hisar) and Jindal Stainless Steelway (JSSL) filed an application in 2019 and requested for initiation of an anti-subsidy investigation citing imports of flat-rolled products of stainless steel at subsidised rates.

The petitioners had provided information on various parameters which showed material injury to the domestic industry caused by the alleged subsidised imports from Indonesia.

The authority then recommended duties at 22.31pc, 22.65pc and 24.83pc on different producers of the subject country. The finance ministry is yet to take the final call to levy these duties.
