Sail’s new mill at Rourkela rolls out first HRC
Steel Authority of India’s (Sail) new hot strip Mill-2 at Rourkela, Odisha rolled out its first hot-rolled coil following trials. The Rourkela plant’s Mill-2 will produce coils of 1.2 to 25.4 mm thickness with maximum coil weight of upto 35mt. Production capacity of the plant is 4.5mn mt/yr of hot metal.
Tangshan city issues orange alert
China’s Tangshan city issued orange alert for air pollution, effective Feb 5. Orange alert is the second highest alert which requires companies to cut emission and reduce production. The lifting of the alert would be announced separately. Tangshan city is a steel making hub in Hebei province.
