China firms announce new rebar mill
Two China-based steel producers. Sichuhan Derun Iron & Steel Group and Hangda steel announced a joint venture to set up a new mill for roll rebar products.
According to the specifications of equipment supplier Danieli Group, the plant will be set up at Dazhou, Sichuan province, and will produce rebar ranging between 12-40mm in diametre from 170mm billets, at a finishing speed of 45metres/sec, according to equipment supplier Danieli Group.
Production is likely to begin in Aug 2020.
The manufacturing equipment is being assembled at Danieli headquarters in China.
Brazilian Taurus seals a deal with Jindal
Brazilian gunmaker Taurus Armas SA has signed a pact with Indian steel producer Jindal Group to make and sell guns in India. The deal was sealed during Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s visit to India.
Jindal has a hold of 51% stake in the venture and Taurus, the rest of the shares, as per Brazilian company.
JSW , Dolvi site to delay its commission
JSW steel’s output was hampered on extended rainfall till November which impacted the construction activity at Dolvi.
The project was to be commissioned on Mar 31, however, it has been delayed for 3-6 months.
Dolvi is likely to produce 4.5-5mn mt of hot rolled coil in which 50pc will be consumed in-house and the surplus will be sold in the market
China’s Shougang starts production
China’s Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel commences production with an annual capacity of 360,000mt of hot-dip galvanizing line. With this facility, mill will produce high-strength grades with tensile strengths of up to 1,350MPa. The newly purchased production line from the SMS group, will be used mainly in the automotive industry to produce structural parts and car body shells for lightweight cars.
The exit section of the newly installed line is designed to process steel strips upto 1,580mm wide and between 0.6 and 3.0mm thick. It can process strips with tensile strength of up to 1,500 MPa with especially the skin-pass mill, tension leveller and side trimming unit.
Shougang steel group has more than 30mn mt of steel capacity in China.
