Minera Autlan’s plant suspension extended
Mexican manganese and ferro-alloys producer Minera Autlán extended suspension of its Gómez Palacio plant operations as domestic steel market remained sluggish.
The plant has an annual silico-manganese production capacity of 33,000mt . The company caters to domestic and foreign demand through its Teziutlán and Tamos plants.
Pollution alert delays operations at Tianjin port
Cargo operations at Tianjin port are likely to be delayed after the civil body issued a level II or the orange pollution alert. Entry and exit from the port will be regulated according to single and double digit license plate numbers. The civic body also implemented emission reduction measures and imposed a ban on vehicles transporting construction material without airtight containers.
Novelis’ acquisition of Aleris delayed
US-based aluminium rolling mill and recycler Novelis’ acquisition of Aleris Corporation has been delayed as it is yet to receive approval from the European Union and the US. Novelis, a subsidiary of India’s Hindalco, expected to get an approval by Jan 21, 2020, which is the after the date mentioned in the merger agreement. The deal hinges on clearance of UK-based GFG Alliance’s acquisition of Aleris’ Duffel aluminium plant.
