China: Baosteel’s production to reach 1.8mn mt in 2019
Iron and steel conglomerate Baosteel Deshing projects to produce 1.8mn mt steel products in 2019, including 1.4mn mt of hot rolling and 400,000mt of cold rolling.
The company has a 1,780mm hot rolling production line under construction which is likely to commence production in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to a statement posted on Guangdong Stainless Steel Materials and Products Association. A 2500 m³ blast furnace is also under construction.
The company’s annual production capacity is expected to reach 4.5mn mt, including stainless steel production capacity of 3.3mn mt after the completion of these projects in 2020.
Shri Bajrang Alliance resumes production
Indian rolling mill Shri Bajrang Alliance ltd.is likely resume production soon with completion of maintenance and modification work of its furnace.
The company has an annual rolling capacity of 50,000mn mt, producing structural products like angles, beams, channels, flats, and rounds as per their website.
China’s unwrought al alloy imports rise in Nov
China imported 36,579mt of unwrought aluminium alloy in November, up by 4.25pc compared November 2018, as per the data released by China customs.
The country’s import of unwrought aluminium alloy in Jan-Nov period was 220,244mt, up by 34.31pc compared to the prior year period.
Tangshan lifted anti-smog production curbs
China’s steel making hub Tangshan lifted level 2 anti-smog measures on Thursday afternoon. The latest curbs, which disrupted production at several mills in the region, were implemented on Dec 23 after heavy air pollution amid cold weather conditions.
