Iran envisages to ramp up its crude steel production capacity and produce 55mn mt by 2025, according to Iranian media.
The country’s crude steel output rose by 46.7pc to 2.895mn mt in Jan 2020 from 1.97mn mt in Jan 2019. Iranian steelmakers produced 22.873mn mt of crude steel in the March 21, 2019- January 20, 2020 period, up by 11pc from the prior-year period. Consumption in the same period was 17.055mn mt and exports at 8.8mn mt, up by 38.27pc from the prior-year period.
ASEAN countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia were the main importers of steel products from Iran.
