Iran’s sponge iron production in the first seven months (Mar 21-Oct 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar increased by 10p to 18.12mn mt from the prior-year period, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).
In the seventh month (Sep 22-Oct 21, 2020) of the Iranian calendar, the country’s sponge iron output stood at 2.54mn mt, up by 19pc from the same month year prior.
Steel
In the Mar-Oct period, Iran’s top steel producers’ crude steel output increased by 8pc to 13.16 mn mt as compared to the prior-year period.
The country’s crude steel and finished steel product output in the seventh month stood at 1.92mn mt and 1.17mn mt, respectively.
The top Iranian steel producers include Mobarakeh Steel, Khuzestan Steel, Zobahan, Iran Alloy Steel, Midco, National Steel Group, South Kaveh Steel, Khorasan Steel, Chadormelo, Arfa, Bonab, and Sirjan.
As per its outlook plan for the year 1404 (2025-2026), Iran, the tenth-largest steel producer in the world, aims to produce 55mn mt steel per annum.
