Iran’s steel ingot production in the first nine months (Mar 20-Dec 22, 2020) of the Iranian calendar stood at 21.6mn mt, up by 8.3pc from 19.9mn mt in the same period the year before, according to media reports citing data released by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade. 

 

In the Mar-Dec period, the country’s total steel output grew by 9.5pc to 19.1mn mt as compared to 17.5mn mt in the prior-year period. 

 

In the ninth month (Oct 22-Dec 22, 2020) of the Iranian calendar, the country’s steel exports worth $354mn stood at 839,000mt.

 

In the first eleven months of 2020, the country’s steel production grew by 13pc to 26.3mn mt from the same period in 2019.

 

Production of steel ingot in Iran is expected to surpass 30mn mt by the current Iranian calendar year (March 2021), as per media reports citing Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Darioush Esmaili.

 

Iran is the tenth-largest steelmaker in the world and aims to increase its annual steel production to 55mn mt by 2025.
