Iron ore shipment on the Great Lakes increased by 29.6pc to 1.17mn mt in March 2020 compared to March 2019, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association.
However, the month’s five year average shipments declined by 5.5pc due to lower loadings.
Iron ore trade witnessed a 9.1pc decline to 2.8mn mt in March this year compared to the same period last year, the association noted, with the five year trade average in the first three months of the year dropping by 10.7pc.
