Japan’s crude steel production in the Jan-Aug period was 54.719mn mt, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). In August alone, Japan produced 6.446mn mt of crude steel up by 6pc from 6.045mn mt in the previous month.

 

JISF data indicated that Japan’s hot-rolled steel output was 48.36mn mt in the first eight months of the year of which 5.858mn mt was produced in August up by 9pc from 5.353mn mt in July. 

 

Galvanized steel sheet production in Japan during the first eight months of 2020 was 5.26mn mt. August alone saw sheet steel production reach 0.608mn mt, 13pc higher than 0.528mn mt produced in July 2020. 

 

Japan’s pig iron production in the first eight months of the year stood at 41.059mn mt out of which 4.769mn mt was produced in August, up by 8pc from 4.374mn mt in July.
