JSW USA has issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) to 160 employees at its Mingo Junction plant in Jefferson County, Ohio.
The move is part of the steelmaker’s plans to shut down the plant’s 1.5mn mt per year electric arc furnace (EAF) announced earlier and the employees being laid off were previously furloughed for six months, the WARN indicated.
According to media reports, the company said that the move was in line with the temporary end of production at the plant because of low demand for finished steel products.
The layoffs will be conducted between July 17 and August 15.
