The timeline for Kadapa Steel’s plant construction project is unlikely to be impacted due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to local media.
The plant entails an investment of Rs210,000mn, of which Rs2,500mn would be pitched in by the state government, according to Arnab Kumar Hazra, assistant secretary general of the Indian Steel Association (ISA). The amount would be utilised to conduct environment impact assessment (EIA), design an environment management plant (EMP) for the facility and build a compound wall around the land at the plant’s location. The plant plans to use iron ore from Anantapur district and has an annual steel production capacity of 3mn mt.
