South Korea’s auto production fell by 1.9pc to 3.95mn vehicles in 2019 from 2018. Weak export and domestic demand impacted the production according to the local media

 

In 2019, South Korea retained its seventh rank for the fourth year. The production gap between South Korea and Mexico, the sixth-largest car producer, narrowed to 22,000 cars from 72,000 in 2018.

China retained its position as the topmost producer despite an overall decline in car production. The country produced 25.71mn units in 2019, down by 7.5pc in the prior year. The US was the second-largest producer with 10.88mn units, followed by Japan with 968mn units; Germany with 511mn units; India with 452mn units and Mexico which produced 397mn units.
