LeadFx has purchased a high-grade zinc project in north-central Peru for an undisclosed sum.

 

The Canadian miner said in a press release on Wednesday that the Bongará Zinc Project lies in an area that has proven resources of high-grade zinc. LeadFx’s project area consists of 11,125 hectares in the mining zone consisting of 13 concessions.

 

The Bongará mine consists of an estimated indicated mineral resource of 1.11mn mt with 5pc zinc grading, 822,000mt with 10pc zinc grading, and 549,000mt with 15pc zinc grading. 

 

LeadFx noted that its immediate priorities at this mine are to begin exploration and review the project’s existing mine and geological plans.

 

Moreover, the company noted that the Peruvian project added to its portfolio of base metals mines that include the Paroo Station lead mine in Australia, which has produced around 464,000mt of ore containing 300,000mt of lead till date. The mine, which is currently under care and maintenance, is expected to ramp up production to become a top 10 lead producer.
