Russia’s Mechel announced that Andrey Pasynich will be the new chief executive officer of Mechel Mining Management Company (MMMC) that handles the day-to-day supervision for the Mechel Group’s mining facilities.
Pasynich will replace Igor Khafizov in this role after the latter left the company. Prior to this appointment, Pasynich headed MMMC’s operations department since 2019 and has served many executive posts prior to it at Mechel and other mining companies.
His main focus will be to consolidate the company’s position in the domestic and international coal market to increase the potential of its mining facilities. In 2020, Mechel produced 3.7mn mt of steel and sold 2.5mn mt of long rolls.
