Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Mexico’s domestic ferrous scrap prices decreased across the North and Central regions but remained unchanged in Bajío.

 

Prices have started to fall in the North as some mills from that region have begun importing scrap because of which more material is available in the domestic ferrous market, according to market participants.

 

In North Mexico, the weekly Davis Indexes for #1 HMS, P&S 5ft, and shredded fell by MXN67/mt to MXN8,333/mt delivered Mexico consumer, MXN9,133/mt delivered, and MXN9,083/mt delivered, respectively. Machine shop turnings declined by MXN200/mt to MXN8,250/mt delivered, and #1 busheling decreased by MXN17/mt to MXN9,333/mt delivered.

 

In Bajío, the weekly Davis Indexes for all grades were unchanged with #1 HMS remaining at MXN8,175/mt delivered Mexico consumer, P&S 5ft held unchanged at MXN8,463/mt delivered, shredded was flat at MXN9,200/mt delivered, machine shop turnings were at MXN7,600/mt delivered, and #1 busheling remained at MXN8,800/mt delivered.

 

In Central Mexico, the weekly Davis Indexes for all grades fell by MXN250/mt with #1 HMS settling at MXN7,900/mt delivered Mexico consumer, P&S 5ft declining to MXN8,050/mt delivered, shredded moving down to MXN7,850/mt delivered, machine shop turnings falling to MXN7,500/mt delivered, and #1 busheling settling at MXN8,100/mt delivered.
