Oman-based Moon Iron & Steel’s new steel plant will commence operations in the first quarter of the 2020 fiscal.The plant has been installed to boost production capacity for billets and rebars, according to a company statement.
The plant is designed by the German SMS Group, employing the latest technology and entails an investment of $300mn.
This upcoming facility constitutes a 140mt electric arc furnace, 140mt ladle furnace and a five-strand continuous billet caster to produce billets with an annual output of 1.2mn mt.
Around 1.1mn mt will be rolled into rebars at a speed of 41metres/second with the help of a high-speed delivery system.
